Da ich nur relativ selten CDs brenne und mir dabei Features wie Video-CD nicht wirklich wichtig sind, ist ein Mörderbrennprogramm wie Toast einfach überdimensioniert. Die von Apple ins System eingebaute Brennfunktion allerdings macht den Kohl auch wiederum nicht fett. Eine Mittellösung muss her. Und die findet sich in Form einer feinen Cocoa-Applikation names FirestarterFX. Das klassische Donationware-Alternativprogramm zur teuren Kommerzsoftware.

Und wie es sich für ein echtes Open Source-Projekt gehört, befindet es sich grundsätzlich im beta-Stadium. Leider hat der Programmierer in diese beta-Versionen ein Ablaufdatum definiert, den 15. Januar. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt sollte die aktuelle Version durch ein Update ersetzt werden. Dumm nur, wenn es kein solches gibt:

Na, das nenne ich doch professionell! Aber im Ernst: Es ist schade drum, denn FirestarterFX ist ein feines Programm, und ich werde darüber berichten, sobald es eine neue, funktionsfähige Version gibt!
